South View Primary School’s 80th Anniversary marked an important milestone, celebrating eight decades of heritage, community spirit, and generations of students who have passed through its classrooms.

To commemorate the occasion, Vivid Media was commissioned to produce an anniversary film that would preserve the school’s legacy while inspiring future generations. The challenge was to transform eighty years of school history into a compelling visual story that would resonate with students, teachers, alumni, parents, and the wider school community.

Rather than approaching the project as a conventional documentary, this school anniversary video production combined live-action cinematography, 2D animation, archival photographs, interviews, and motion graphics to create a more engaging narrative. By blending documentary-style storytelling with animated characters, the film made the school’s history more accessible to younger audiences while remaining meaningful for alumni, educators, and invited guests.

Unlike a typical school event recap, this project required careful planning across every stage of production. From developing the narrative and planning animation-friendly camera angles to integrating historical archives and interviews, every creative decision was designed to celebrate South View Primary School’s legacy while creating a film that would remain relevant long after the anniversary celebrations had concluded.
