MedTech and Biomedical Science Video Production in Singapore

More than 400 global and local MedTech enterprises now operate in Singapore, and the sector’s manufacturing output has grown from S$5.2 billion in 2013 to S$19.4 billion in 2023. (Cutting-edge Medical Technology, MedTech in Singapore | EDB Singapore) And yet many of these companies still explain their innovations the way an engineer would, in specs, acronyms, and feature lists. MedTech and biomedical science video production does the opposite. It turns a complex device or key research finding into a story your audience actually understands.

This article breaks down what MedTech and biomedical science sectors need from video production, the various types of video production that Vivid Media has covered for this sector, as well as how our team approaches MedTech and biomedical science video production.

What MedTech And Biomedical Science Sectors Need From Video Production

MedTech and biomedical science teams don’t have trouble understanding their innovations or research findings. The real challenge is translating that understanding to stakeholders outside the company, especially when they are seeing it for the first time without the same technical context. This is where video production comes in to communicate clarity to the general audience.

Starting with product demonstration videos, they show how a device is used, how a process flows, and what outcomes look like in practice. But in reality, companies and research institutions often need a broader set of videos to support how they present themselves across different situations.

For example, corporate walkthrough videos help external stakeholders understand the environment behind the product. A clean, well-documented office, lab, or facility can say a lot about how a company operates, and it helps build confidence in the business. Similarly, podcast-style or interview-led videos featuring professors, clinicians, or medical directors help surface expertise in a way that feels natural, which is especially important in a space where credibility carries a lot of weight.

MedTech companies are also competing for specialised talent, and just stating a job description rarely captures what it actually feels like to work within a team in this particular sector. Hence, videos showing people, team culture, and day-to-day environments make that decision easier for potential hires.

Research papers and data are extremely essential, but they are often too difficult for a wider, general audience to understand and absorb. Video production helps to bridge that gap by turning complex findings into clear, accessible stories, whether it’s for colleagues, academic professors, or commercial partners.

When done properly, video production helps different parts of the business communicate more effectively, whether that is in sales, partnerships, hiring, or research. It reduces the need for repeated explanations and creates a more consistent way for the company to present itself across different markets.

Types Of MedTech And Biomedical Science Video Production We Have Covered

We have worked with many MedTech and biomedical science organisations, from device innovators to research institutions. Our video production and corporate videography services for the MedTech and biomedical science sector include:

These videos typically showcase the company’s facilities, from office spaces to labs and production areas, giving viewers a sense of scale, organisation, and operational maturity. In this 10x Genomics corporate video, the focus is both on the space itself and how the environment supports high-level research and development. This builds confidence without needing to explicitly say it, allowing stakeholders to visually assess credibility and infrastructure.

Product Demonstration & Shoot Videos

This is for showcasing devices, diagnostic tools, and robotics platforms in clinical or lab settings.

Check out one of our past works:

This A*STAR IME Silicon Carbide video presents complex technical processes through clear visual sequencing, making applications easier to understand at a glance. These videos are effective because they prioritise clarity of the process over aesthetics, making the technology easier to grasp.

HR Recruitment Videos

This is to attract engineering, clinical, and R&D talent into a competitive MedTech hiring market.

Check out two of our past works:

Both A*STAR IME’s internship & talent video and 10x Genomics’ operations recruitment video revolve around people. They show real working environments and day-to-day responsibilities, giving potential candidates a clearer sense of what to expect. This approach works well because it reduces uncertainty for applicants before applying to the company.

Biomedical Research Communication Videos

This is to translate complex findings into clear, accessible stories.

Check out one of our past works:

Instead of relying purely on texts and data, the spatial technologies video by 10x Genomics uses motion, sequencing, and simplified explanations to guide the viewer through main points. This makes the content more accessible to a wider audience.

Podcasts & Vodcasts

This is for positioning medical directors, professors, and clinicians as voices in the MedTech and biomedical science sector.

Check out one of our past works:

The Menarini APAC Medconnect vodcast leans into conversation rather than scripting, allowing insights to come across more naturally. It highlights expertise through discussion, tone, and perspective instead of heavy editing or visual effects. This format works because it builds authority over time and feels more authentic to viewers who are used to listening to industry voices.

Our corporate video production services are designed to scale seamlessly with the evolving needs of MedTech and biomedical science companies, supporting them from research breakthroughs to global expansion.

How Vivid Media Approaches MedTech And Biomedical Science Video Production Storytelling

When explained only in dense terminology and technical jargon, complex details risk being misinterpreted. And that is exactly where storytelling matters the most. Our team’s strength isn’t just filming a product on a table, it’s also finding the human angle inside a technical story.

By pairing accurate, vetted technical detail with a narrative structure that resonates emotionally, the results of our MedTech and biomedical science video production connect with the target audience of our clients on a deeper level.

Our MedTech And Biomedical Science Video Production Process

Because such content often involves clinical environments and extremely sensitive facilities, our process is built around precision, planning, and preparation.

  • Pre-on-site recce: For lab, clinical, or research facility shoots, we conduct a site visit ahead of filming to understand access requirements, equipment placement, and any restrictions specific to a MedTech or biomedical science environment.
  • Scripting and fact-checking: We work closely with your technical and marketing teams to ensure scientific terminology and product demonstrations are accurate before a single frame is shot.
  • On-site production: Our in-house videographers film with a producer on-site to manage logistics, which is particularly important in regulated or clinical spaces where time and access are limited.
  • Storytelling-led editing: Our in-house editors cut for clarity and emotional resonance, not just technical completeness, to ensure that the video is watchable by all.
  • Multi-format delivery: Whether the final video is for a trade show booth, a distributor pitch deck, or an internal all-hands meeting, we deliver formats best suited to each channel.

How is filming in a lab different from filming at other locations?

Melvin Mak, Video Team Lead

“Filming in a lab is honestly a completely different environment compared to most other locations. Space is usually very tight, so even basic camera setups need to be adapted on the spot. You are also working around expensive and sensitive equipment, which means you cannot just move things around freely or take creative liberties with the setup.

Additionally, there are hygiene and safety protocols to follow. We often have to suit up in scrubs, which sounds minor, but it actually affects how we move and operate equipment. Everything needs to stay clean and controlled, so even small actions like repositioning a light or adjusting a shot have to be done carefully. It forces you to be more intentional with every decision.”

What are some challenges that you face when filming these types of videos?

Eugene Ng, Producer & Director

“One common challenge is that we are sometimes working with prototype units rather than final products. These units can have small imperfections, so part of our job is figuring out how to present them in a way that still feels polished and complete. And that often involves a lot of creative problem-solving, working closely with the client’s engineers and our own crew to find the right angles and sequences.

There is also the coordination side of things. These shoots usually involve multiple stakeholders, from technical teams to marketing teams, and everyone has slightly different priorities. And on top of that, time is very limited, since we are filming in active lab environments. So a lot of the work comes down to aligning everyone early and making sure we are efficient once we are on set.”

How do you make a product video more relatable to the target audience?

Eugene Ng, Producer & Director

“For me, it’s always going back to the product’s Unique Selling Proposition (USP). Every product has a key strength, and the main goal is always to make that as clear as possible to the viewer. It isn’t about just showcasing the product’s features but also connecting those features to what people actually care about or expect. That could mean focusing on how the product improves a workflow, saves time, or delivers more consistent results. Once that link is clear, the video becomes much easier to follow because the audience immediately understands why it’s important.”

What are some filming techniques that have worked well for MedTech and biomedical science video production?

Melvin Mak, Video Team Lead

“One technique that has worked really well is using dynamic camera movement, especially with a gimbal. Even in tight lab spaces, this allows us to move through the environment smoothly and give a better sense of how everything connects. Without that movement, shots can feel quite static, especially when you are filming equipment or processes. Adding controlled motion makes the visuals more engaging while still keeping things professional and clear, which is very important in a constrained filming space.”
