The video hooks you in with visuals of fish being hauled in, fishermen going about their daily business, followed by the face of the company introducing their process to you. The video is 3 minutes long, but it keeps viewers engaged throughout as it uses colourful graphics as well to illustrate the more technical processes where it could get dry for viewers. The video is clear, straightforward, and creates a level of trust with the audience when we get to see the people involved in the production, and actually see the production happening at the space. The documentary-style production draws a home-grown feeling to the video and can get stronger support among those wanting to support the local scene.

Another example is by Micron, an industry leader in memory and storage technologies. Following the interview style approach, Micron’s video on the other hand has more of a ‘corporate’ feeling to it with the use of gimbals and drones to capture smooth, slow footage of the environment. Micron also makes use of graphics as well to accentuate their points. Similar to the previous fish farm video, both examples are highly informative and straightforward in their approach to introducing their companies’ processes to the viewer.

Moving on to this video by Grand Hyatt – it uses soothing voice-over over beautiful visuals of the hotel and its services, explaining the sustainability initiatives they have implemented. Relaxing, pleasant music overlays the video, creating a vibe consistent with the Grand Hyatt’s reputation – a luxury 5-star hotel which is a retreat on its own! The video also has consistently warm tones throughout, emphasizing on the luxe and comfort of the space. Titles are used aptly as well, highlighting the sustainable message of the video.

This video from Prudential brings a different energy to the list – instead of a natural environment, Prudential uses a vibrant colour backdrop for each of its speakers. There’s a kind of snapiness when we watch the video, and the message comes out clear and crisp. The clean background gives the opportunity for the graphics to come in while the speakers are talking.

Starting with this visually stunning video from HP – with no dialogue, the video shows how HP is involved in recycling – utilising plastics that are bound for the ocean in their products. The story cuts between the life of a fish in the ocean and the journey of a plastic bag. Backed with music as well as diagetic sounds from the story, it is a short film with a powerful message about sustainability in HP. The lack of dialogue makes it easy for viewers of all ages and backgrounds to understand and makes the final catchphrase even stronger.

Carbon Neutral & Carbon Zero Sustainability Video

Apple comes in with an intimate video featuring a baby, and the voice-over speaker promising that their products would be carbon-neutral by baby’s tenth birthday. The video is quiet, loving, sounding like a father speaking to his child at night, making all the promises in the world. The use of extreme close-up shots in the video creates a sense of intimacy with the viewer, as though we are so physically close to them.

This video by MANGO featuring their sustainable fashion uses models wearing MANGO clothing posing in nature. The video is overlayed with voice-over explaining how and why their clothes are sustainable. Choosing the right location for shoot is important for the message of the video. When the audience see nature, it is easier to relate the sustainability factor of the company.
